Our latest project, Pinhoti Peak, is a great case study of how (and why) we partnered with Legrand to incorporate their Smart Lighting with Netatmo.

Convenience and customization were also key factors in my decision. Legrand’s Smart Lighting with Netatmo offers unparalleled options for personalization. We can create personalized lighting scenes, schedule lights to turn on or off at specific times, and even control the lights remotely…which was especially important to us with this not being our primary residence. This level of control allows us to set the perfect ambiance for any occasion while maximizing energy savings.

Seamless Integration

Seamless integration with other smart home devices was another crucial aspect. Legrand’s system works seamlessly with popular voice assistants like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Siri. This means we can control the lights using simple voice commands, enhancing convenience and ease of use.

Smart Lighting Components

Now let’s delve into the components and features that make Legrand’s Smart Lighting with Netatmo exceptional:

It all starts with either an in-wall or surface mount Gateway! The Gateway serves as the foundation of the system, connecting to your home’s Wi-Fi and then establishing a strong and dedicated mesh network. With this network in place, you can effortlessly support up to 98 smart devices with Netatmo, ensuring a seamless and reliable smart lighting experience throughout your home.

To complete your smart lighting solution, choose the perfect wired or plug-in smart device for each light or load you want to control. These devices, which can easily replace standard switches, dimmers, or outlets in just minutes, serve as repeaters to enhance the strength of the system’s network. The switches, dimmer, and outlets are available in various styles and finishes to seamlessly blend with any home décor.

To manage all Legrand smart devices, the Legrand Home + Control App serves as the central hub. From controlling lights to creating scenes, setting schedules, and monitoring energy consumption, this intuitive app simplifies the smart lighting experience. And let’s not forget voice assistant compatibility. Thanks to Legrand‘s compatibility with popular voice assistants, we can control the lights at Pinhoti with simple voice commands, taking convenience to a whole new level!

Installation & Benefits

Finally, let’s talk about the installation process we followed at Pinhoti Peak:

First, I meticulously planned the lighting layout, determining the ideal placement for switches, dimmers, and smart plugs, as well as the wiring configuration. Next, we proceeded with the wiring and installation of the smart lighting devices. We placed the Gateway near the hallway desk, and connected switches and dimmers to the electrical system and placing smart plugs in all our desired locations. Motion sensors work especially well in the hall way and bathrooms. Timers were used on all exhaust fans to prevent our conditioned air being sucked out and our energy consumption increased by a fan accidentally left on. The graphite finishes of the devices look great with our modern décor.

After installing and wiring the devices, we set up the Legrand Home + Control App on our smartphones. The app guided me through adding the smart lighting devices and configuring them to work with my home’s Wi-Fi network. Now we can create personalized lighting scenes for different occasions, like family movie nights in the media room or intimate dinner parties in the dining room. With just a few taps on the we can set the perfect ambiance.

Also, the scheduling feature of the app has made it easy to automate lighting based on our family’s daily routines. Lights automatically turn on in the morning, giving our family a smooth start to the day, and dims in the evening, creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere for bedtime. The remote control feature gives us confidence to leave home without worry. Being able to turn off an on lights from anywhere helps with security and energy!
