Building a new home is an exciting and challenging experience. There are many phases to the construction process, each with its unique features and benefits. One such phase is the mechanical rough construction phase, which is the period during which the plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems are installed.

Capturing photos or videos…OR EVEN BETTER…a 360 INTERACTIVE VIRTUAL TOUR of your project during the mechanical rough construction phase is an excellent way to document the process and ensure that everything is being done according to plan…and they might come in handy later! We can’t tell you how many times throughout this project we’ve looked back at our matterport tour. Whether its for finding an electrical line or pulling measurements, our mechanical rough matterport model of Pinhoti Peak has be so valuable and time saving!

Here are some of the benefits of capturing photo, videos, or an interactive virtual tour during this phase:

  1. Identify potential issues: Capturing photos of your new home build during the mechanical rough construction phase allows you to identify potential issues before they become major problems. You can spot things like plumbing or electrical work that may need to be adjusted or fixed before they cause significant damage.
  2. Record progress: Taking photos allows you to track the progress of your home build. You can look back on your photos and see how far your project has come and how much work has been done. This can be a great motivator and help you stay excited about your new home.
  3. Provide documentation: Capturing photos during the mechanical rough construction phase can provide documentation for any potential future disputes or claims. If there are any issues or concerns that arise, you will have visual evidence to support your claims and help you resolve disputes more easily.
  4. Plan for future upgrades: Photos can also help you plan for future upgrades or renovations. By seeing where your plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems are installed, you can determine if any changes need to be made to accommodate any future upgrades or changes you may want to make.
  5. Space Acclimation – a 360 walkthrough like the one powered by Matterport provides an immersive and interactive virtual tour of a physical space. This allows potential contractors, subcontractors and other vendors to explore your property remotely and gain a better sense of its layout and features. This was extremely helpful for us as our project was so far off the beaten path!

Capturing photos, videos and other digital assets of your project during the mechanical rough construction phase is an essential step in the construction process. This documentation can help you identify potential issues, track progress, provide documentation, and plan for future upgrades. It’s a small investment that can provide significant benefits for years to come.
